1. Declutter Your Home
First off, this can be either super easy or super complicated on how to declutter your house! I can do an entire post on it, but I really think that this is the key element before you begin to deep clean! Some declutter tips:
- Keep your counters clean of things on there: Use utensil holders, put away air fryer, toaster ovens, etc
- Have baskets in every room: Using baskets to put away blankets, dog toys, random items.
- Have a place for everything: Have a place for EVERYTHING in your house! This is probably my number one declutter tip.
2. Clean Garbage Disposal
There are several ways to do it. Here are two ways I do: disposal cleaners from Target & baking soda/vinegar. I throw in baking soda for a few minutes down there. Then I eyeball vinegar down the drain. After that, I will throw in some hot water (make sure it is not too hot)!
3. Cleaning Baseboards
Probably one of the most satisfying things is to clean baseboards. I do not love doing it because it does take some time, but it is something that is one of the most useful deep cleaning tips! Use powdered tide (MUST BE POWDERED), hot water, and a splash of bleach. Usually I will just use a microfiber towel to help clean them! I learned this tip from @gocleanco on Instagram. SUCH a good follow!!
4. Cleaning Stainless Steel Appliances
Getting a microfiber towel and some olive oil will do the job for stainless steel! Also using this stainless cleaning spray is a great one to use!
5. Deep Cleaning Cabinets
Kitchen cabinets and bathroom cabinets are something that we often overlook. Especially if they are white ones! Use the mixture of hot water, splash of bleach, and powdered tide to be able to clean those cabinets well! I also use this with microfiber towels.
6. Use Microfiber Towels
I probably say this in every one of my posts, but seriously use microfiber towels! They are super cheap to get and clean better than paper towels. I do use paper towels for the bathroom and stuff like that, but that really is it!! They are great for catching dirt as well!
7. Dust with a Swiffer Weekly
I recently read somewhere how dust/dirt is what can create a smell in your house. Getting one of these is a life changer for deep cleaning your house! Using this duster is a game changer! It takes me a few minutes every week to go through my TV, doors, windows, other cracks just to make sure we are dust free! Major deep cleaning tip and hack 😉
8. Carpet Cleaning Powder
If you have pets, this is a must. I am sorry I know it may or may not mess up your vacuum. (who really knows?) I get this Oxi-Clean Carpet Powder and sprinkle it on for about 15 minutes and then just vacuum like normal! It makes your carpet smell SO good and it really deep cleans it as well.
9. Deep Cleaning Tips: Clean Your Blender
Sometimes using your blender is such a pain because of the clean-up process. I like to throw dish soap and warm water and blend it up a few times. This will ensure that your blender is cleaned up everywhere that it was used. Such a good deep cleaning hack!
10. Deep Cleaning Tips: Stove and Oven
I used to avoid doing this like all the time… I hated it because it would never clean! However, if you use Dawn Powerwash and Barkeeper’s powder with some microfiber towels and you are good to go!!! Use it for your grates as well. I also like to throw some powerwash on the oven door.
11. Deep Clean Your Mattress
Deep cleaning your mattress really means to also wash your sheets while doing this hack! Throw some baking soda on your mattress and let it sit for about 1-3 hours. Whenever you are ready, just vacuum it up! You are good to go.
12. Dust Electronics
First off, I have said it so many times! But seriously do it! Dust off your TV’s, computers, iPads, phones, etc! Dust can make your house smell! I usually will use disinfecting spray as well! Just be cautious.
13. Mop Floors Twice
I know I have mentioned this one before, but seriously mop your floors with HOT water at least twice if you are going to mop. Otherwise, there is no point to do so.
14. Schedule Deep Cleans
I like to have a deep clean about once a month. It does not have to take up your entire day! Just focus on an area each month! I like to focus on baseboards once, then I will focus on cleaning my cabinets the next month. Break it up and make it doable.
15. Clean out Pantry and Cabinets
This is my last tip for now, but make sure you take out food/make up/skincare, whatever else it may be to clean out your pantry at least once or twice a year. Vacuum up the shelves. Use Dawn wash and spray it on there and wipe with a microfiber towel!
This is super important to do so!
